The cover page of the Creditplus Bank annual report 2018 with its bold title ‘Bank on the Move’ offers a dynamic first impression to the reader and fits perfectly with what the bank offers: sales financing and specifically, two-wheeled vehicle financing.

The report is filled with icons and miniature designs courtesy of illustrator Eva-Maria Birkhoff. Her work is precise and detailed; she uses a single colour throughout the report. Fine lines and different line qualities characterize these drawings, while dots and lines have been used to form varied patterns throughout the report.

The incorporation of photographs into the illustrations adds a sense of reality and a human element to the report. Pages six and seven also have an interesting combination of text and illustration providing details about the smart technologies of the company that ensure smooth and easy financing for customers. The illustrated photograph of the executive committee has a sense of depth – a good balance between the sophistication and warmth of the company.

In addition, mini human figures have been scattered across the report – making the reader seem almost like the protagonist of the story Gulliver’s Travels.

Text is spaced out and easy to read right through the report. ‘New’, ‘fast’, ‘easy’, ‘technology’, ‘digital’: these are all words generously distributed across the pages and seem to reflect the conciseness of the report as well. Sans serif font typefaces are used consistently, while headings and subheadings are nothing short of bold.

Pages 22-23 display in polaroid style, projects which resonate with the heart of the bank. Each image has its own story, and despite multiple photographs on the double spread, it doesn’t come across as cluttered but instead, a collection of memories.

Graphical information has been creatively presented, particularly pages 26-27 which deal with employee satisfaction. Also included are a colourfully illustrated pie chart and simply drawn bar graphs which present employee details in a very straightforward manner.

Financial information is kept short and sweet, providing an overview of the year 2018 in comparison with previous years. Not too little, not too much – that is the essence of this report.
