WeCAN is an independent network of communications agencies based in Hungary. It operates across Central and Eastern Europe. They provide local market expertise and region-wide campaign management.
WeCAN, who call their annual reports ‘CANnual reports’ commissioned Gabriella Balázs of Gabril Creative for their reports between 2019 and 2022.
Balázs uses this opportunity to flex their creative muscle and provide four vastly different covers. The range includes photographic collage, illustration in a Corporate Memphis style, high resolution maps and a typographic cover.
There is a freshness to the collection of covers due to this variance in design and Balázs uses typography to subtly unify them. While each cover uses a typeface for titles and cover copy that suits each edition, the word ‘_CANnual’ is always presented the same way. It’s the same strategy a magazine uses to create consistency between issues. It’s a clever and useful repurposing of a design tool.
